On October 19th 1923 the house opened to visitors and on the first day there were 20
stamen and other structures of a banana plant belonging to the banker and Dutch East India Company director George Clifford (1685-1760)
with fan-club secretary Anne Collingham helping him sort through the 52 sacks full of greeting cards and parcels
eventually visiting London in the 1820s
