Antique Tudor Elizabethan Henry VIII Oak Sword Six Plank Coffer Chest Trunk, Circa 1540 Paintings the highest being 47" floorAntique Tudor Elizabethan oak six plank boarded coffer sword chest, circa 1540. The coffer from the period of King Henry VIII having a hinged lid enclosing a storage area lined with 19th century newspapers, the sides, rear and base all of joined plank construction. The lid having handcut steel hinges most likely replaced in the 17th century from the previous steel 'snipe' hinges, the chest retaining the original handcut steel lock plate to the front.
